Fun Shoot

Saturday afternoon saw the annual Fun Shoot organised by Pete and Cis this year. The turnout was disaponting with just 19 shooting but everyone enjoyed themselves.
Best Lady Lynn Lamb, best Gent Martin Jones, best junior Boy Austin Stone, best junior Girl Rebecca Jones, 3 Birdies (ie lowest) Tony Silver Annie Humphrey Derek Howe, Greediest and cultists Olivia Humphrey, Some very funny stances and actions were to be seen. The pendulum went down well Brian and Lawrence were partners and the target at times went behind the Butts.

NOTICE OF EGM

Notice to all members to call an Extraordinary meeting to be held at the field on
Wednesday 25th August at 7:00pm

The purpose of the meeting is to update members regarding your committee’s efforts to purchase the field and to advise members of the propositions it is intending to move.

1 Advice to club members regarding fund raising efforts for the purchase of the field.

2 As a committee we are advising members of our agreement to secure the land for the club by the purchase of the land being made by a club member and at the same time the club will be entering into a formal lease on terms very similar to the existing lease with Cemex. The agreement with the member will give the club the legal right to purchase the field at the same figure that the club had negotiated with the Landlord and that the member is purchasing for.

3. To seek approval from the members to indemnify the club member for all costs associated with the purchase of the land.

4. To seek approval from the members for the Club to enter in to the new lease.

5 To seek approval to change the structure of the club to become a Company Limited by guarantee as well as applying to H M Customs and Revenue to become a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC). This is to secure the ability to obtain Lottery type funding to assist in the future purchase as well as tax advantages.

6 To seek approval from the club members to change the constitution to reflect the requirement of a successful CASC application, Copies of the revised constitution will be available for consideration and approval.

7 To approve a planning application for permanent change of use to Archery from the current temporary change of use, including the cabins and club house.

8. To seek a vote of approval to transfer all of the assets of the club to the new legal entity.

9. To seek the agreement from the membership to call the new legal entity “Sway Bowmen Limited” (a Company limited by guarantee).

10. Any other business.

Blue Lion Tournament – Bournemouth

On Sunday 18th July a record turnout of 11 Archers from Sway Bowmen, including 7 Juniors, attended the the Blue Lion Tournament in Bournemouth.
Weather was hot & sunny, if a bit breezy causing a few arrows to stray .
6 Juniors & 1 Senior came away with medals. A notable performance from Caspar de Wattripont having just turned 8 attending his first ever away shoot and having only taken up archery this April. Well done to us all, another great
day out! The organisers even arranged for an ice cream van to turn up in the afternoon for a welcome refreshing 99! The adults were fighting for position in the queue with the juniors.

Results were: Juniors shot Windsor rounds according to age, all recurve.

Sway Carnival Shoot

There were 22 attending today’s Carnival Shoot. The winners of the Mixed Pairs Trophy was Jane and Trevor Chalk with Ali Smith and Bryan Golden in second place and Annie and Laurence taking third.

We had a good day at the Anniversary Picnic today and the weather was kind to us if not a little breezy.

There was a good turnout with 48 members, past members and friends and it was good to catch up with some old faces again.

A Great set of results for Sway Bowmen out in force!!

6th June 2010 – WATERSIDE OPEN TOURNAMENT
A dozen archers from Sway Bowmen shot at the weeknd on a sunny and glorius day at Exbury Gardens for the Waterside Open Tournament and came home with a great performance from all who attended. The seniors
even managed to make joint 3rd place with AC Delco for the recurve team (4 archers from any one club). The juniors yet again out in force managed a sterling performance with no less than 5 Golds, 2 Silver, and a 2nd Place for the Junior Recurve Team against mostly Hampshire Team archers, so well done to all of you, a credit to the club!

Sway vs The Rest of the World

The top team from Sway Bowmen took on the rest of the world at the Forest of Bere Team Shoot yesterday. It was a tough competition but the Sway Team finished in the top four places. (fourth!).

Sway do well at AC Delco

On Sunday 30th May 9 Archers from Sway Bowmen, including 5 Juniors, attended the Trinity Shoot at AC Delco. Weather was great but very windy causing a few arrows to miss their target. 4 of the Juniors came away with medals.
Results were Steve Humphrey (Recurve) 896, Laurence de Wattripont (Recurve) 884, Bryan Golden (Recurve) 781, Sandie Baigent (LB) 235 and placed 1st Lady Longbow.
Juniors shot Bristol rounds according to age. A Bristol 2 was shot by Felix de Wattripont 835 and placed 1st Junior Boy. A Bristol 3 was shot by Annie Humphrey (Compound) 780 placed 1st Junior compound girl. Austen Stone (Recurve) 697 placed 3rd Junior Boy and a Bristol 4 was shot by Isobel de Wattripont (Recurve) 678 placed 3rd Junior girl, Olivia Humphrey (Recurve) 528.
