On Sunday 28th April, five members of Sway Bowmen travelled to Andover Archers to compete in their annual Saxon shoot.
The weather started out warm with some sunshine. This was quickly masked by a thin veil of cloud in the morning, with a chilly breeze settling in after lunch.
Charlotte Warne took the Gold medal for the Ladies Barebow, shooting a Hereford round (6 dozen at 80 yards, 4 dozen at 60 yards and 2 dozen at 50 yards) and scoring 641 points.
Kyle Jasper took the Gold medal for the Junior Gents Recurve Bristol IV round (6 dozen at 40 yards, 4 dozen at 30 yards and 2 dozen at 20 yards), scoring 914 points.
The Gents who attended were all shooting Recurve on a York round (6 dozen at 100 yards, 4 dozen at 80 yards and 2 dozen at 60 yards). Whilst they displayed an extremely consistent ability with their shooting, it was sadly wasted peppering the rather thin bits of woodwork around the target! This left them propping up the bottom of the Gents Recurve results with the following scores: Richard Organ: 501; Adam Hackett 485; Howard Jasper 479.
Nonetheless, great fun was had by all and all are looking forward to their next tournament!
