The British Blind Sport National Indoor Archery Championships took place at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall. This year Sway Bowmen’s Jane Magner, a VI (visually impaired) archer took part. Jane, who only took up archery in April 2009 when she attended the beginners course at Sway Bowmen and has only just completed her first season indoors, shot a double Portsmouth round (10 dozen arrows at 18m on a 60cm target) on the Saturday with a total score of 825, which gave her the first place medal for her sight category. She also jointly won the David Christie Memorial Trophy (for most improved handicap) with her morning Portsmouth round of 434. Jane also shot a Worcester round (6 dozen arrows at 18m on a special black/white 40cm target) on the Sunday morning, scoring a very respectable 194.
