Lucy pipped to the gold medal, but sets a new British record on her way to the final 16th August 2006 By Peter Jones British archer Lucy O'Sullivan set a new national Junior Ladies Compound record whilst qualifying for the head to head rounds at the Junior Europa Cup, in Prague. Indeed, Lucy shot the old record of 1262 to pieces, as she raised the bar to new heights with a score of 1383. It was the start of a terrific weekend for Lucy, who took the Silver medal in the Cadet Compound girls individual competition - gold medallist Malin Johansson from Sweden, pipping her by two points. The British cadet recurve girls were also in the medals - they took the bronze in the team event, having been beaten in the semi-finals by eventual gold medallists, Russia. Said GB performance manager Barry Eley: "It was a superb effort by Lucy to go as close as she did do to the gold medal, and to set a new British best in qualifying. I was also really pleased for the girls recurve team - they all shot really well, and thoroughly deserved to return home with a medal.
