Message from the HAA County Team Manager

HAMPSHIRE ARCHERY ASSOCIATION COUNTY TEAM

Hi Everyone,

My name is Nick Loader and many of you will know me as the Secretary of Andover Archers. I have now taken on the role of Hampshire County Target Team Manager. There is much to do over the next few weeks to field a team for the match against Sussex which will be held as part of the Waterside WA1440 on Sunday 6th May 2018. I will be working closely with Charlotte Baigent who is Tournament Organiser for Waterside. I am also delighted that Charlotte has agreed to organise the County Teams for this year’s National Inter-County Team Tournament.

We have set up a dedicated Facebook Group called HAA County Team which will be the primary means of contact and the source of all information regarding the County Squad and County Team selection. Anyone who is affiliated to HAA and is interested in representing the County should apply to be a member of this group. This will be a Closed Group, so only authorized members will be able to see the posts.

Current selection policy is based on the Archery GB National Rankings and this will continue for this year. However, changes to the Ranking system may mean we need to find an alternative selection process. To that end, we would ask all of you who are interested in being part of the squad and thus available for team selection to participate in the following study. Please submit all scores that you achieve from 1st April onwards in Gents and Ladies WA 1440 rounds (for juniors all Metric 1 to 5 rounds) that have been shot in competition. The events do not have to be Record Status but must be open shoots shot under Archery GB rules with outside judges (not club target days). We will use these scores to produce a dataset that will show who is improving, who is currently on top form and who are the most consistent archers in the squad. Scores can be submitted by email to the Target Team Manager.

We propose to organise regular get togethers of those interested in representing the County. One such session has already been held at Andover. If other clubs are prepared to host such events, please let me know. It would be good to cover all areas of the County. Details will be posted on the HAA County Team Facebook Group.

I look forward to meeting you and to a successful season for our County Team!

Nick
