On 28th October Sway Bowmen held their annual Halloween shoot. This very goulish and ghostly event was held at our Club field in Sway and was attended by 20 Club archers. Well done to all 20 as it was quite a messy event this year with all sorts of coloured liquids etc squirting everywhere.
All the archers at this event are required to shoot barebow ie; no sights or other shooting aids.
The senior prize went to Bob Hughes, the junior prize went to Polly Graham and the award for the best costumes went to Anthony and Leon Hausdoerfer.
All those competing said how much they enjoyed this lighthearted shoot and many thanks must go to our Tournamount Officer Jem Mason for his hard work and creation of the multitde of grisly targets.

Sway Bowmen recently held their 30th annual Club Outdoor Championships at our Club field in Sway. 36 archers took part this year on a breezy but dry day. It was good to see a number of new archers taking part having joined the Club earlier this year. There was also a very good turnout of Junior archers all producing good scores in what was for most of them their first competition.
The rounds shot were St George, Albion, Windsor, Short Windsor and Junior Windsor, with 3 dozen arrows at each of 3 distances from 100 yards to 20 yards, totaling 9 dozen arrows for each archer. A good cross section of distances to give all archers including Juniors a good chance.
Our Lord Patron this year was club member Adrian Jones, Karen Fountaine was our Judge and Field Captain and the event was superbly organised and run by Jem Mason. The Club thanks them all for their hard work.
The main results;
Ladies recurve, First, Karen Fountaine with 564 points. Second, Yvonne John with 471 points. Third, Jaymi Vine with 428 points.

2018 is the 30th anniversary of the formation of Sway Bowmen and we were delighted to welcome 64 archers from 11 Archery Clubs across Dorset and Hampshire to our 30th annual Mushroom Shoot on 19th of August.
The weather was kind to us with sunshine and very little wind for the Western Rounds shot. These were the Long Western at 80 and 60 yards, the Western at 60 and 40 yards, the Short Western at 50 and 40 yards, the Junior Western at 40 and 30 yards, and the Junior Short Western at 30 yards and 20 yards. 4 dozen arrows were shot at each distance.
Sway Bowmen would like to thank our Lady Paramount for the day Hannah Mitchell, our Judge Richard Hillier and our Field Captain Roger Lee for their help with the running of this popular shoot. Also our thanks must go to all the archers whose support always makes the day so enjoyable. Finally the Club`s thanks go to Jem Mason, our Tournamount Organiser
for his hard work and smooth running of this annual shoot.
