Sway Bowmen`s annual Friendship Shoot took place last month in glorious warm sunshine This shoot takes the form of Archery Darts, shot in pairs drawn on the day. The event was supported by 20 archers. The Trophy this year was won by Dave Edmondson and Graham Johnson.![]()
Thanks go to Karen Fountaine in her role as Field Captain for her very fair and unbiased decisions during the day.
The White Rose Trophy shoot took place on July 1st. This shoot always coincides with the Sway Village Carival Week when the Club was asked to hold the shoot in the grounds of what was then The White Rose Hotel in the village. When this hotel changed hands some years ago we decided to keep the shoot alive at our field in Sway. A Portsmouth round is shot
comprising 5 dozen arrows at a 60cm target face at a distance of 20 yards. 19 archers took part this year on a very sunny and hot day. Pairs were drawn on the day and the winning pair were Karen Fountaine and Chris Southall with a combined score of 984 and 24 Golds, 2nd place went to Yvonne John and Clive lane with a score of 924 and 15 Golds, and in
third place were Jaymi Vine and Paul Murt scoring 870 with 10 Golds.
As well as shooting, Karen Fountaine was also Field Captain and we thank Jem Mason for organising this enjoyable shoot so well.
