Hi everyone. This is just a short note to let you know that we are enjoying ourselves at the other side of the Earth.

We spent yesterday cycling around Rottnest Island and was joined on the beach by one of the locals (The brown furry thing between me and Ali). It's a marsupial called a Quokka. The little bugger stole my lunch while we were swimming!

The forecast for Christmas Day here in Perth is 34deg, what's it going to be like in Sway!! Have a great Christmas and see you all sometime in February. Ali & Trev
(Update: The forecast was wrong, it was 43deg in the shade!!)

Remember to wear whites and greens on the league nights! To those of you who have not shot indoors before, league divisions are set prior to October, based on past outdoor performance. League evenings are shot as above with a practice night every third week. There is no fee for Senior Archers attending the Wednesday evening sessions as the cost has been incorporated into the club membership fee. There might be a small fee for Saturday evenings. Juniors who attend do so on the basis of a one off cost per attendance of £2.00 Details of the league positions and other club notices are normally given out at these Evening sessions, so apart from the shooting and socialising, these sessions are the best way of keeping up with what's s going on.

Twenty one archers braved the chill wind and spooky targets for this year's Halloween fun shoot. Although the targets, which consisted of a mixture of ghouls, demons and other unspeakably unpleasant creatures, were at relatively close range they proved to be quite challenging. Arrows missing the 'kill zone' generally incurred penalty points, so many of the paricipants ended up with negative scores! The Fire Queen was possibly the most feared target, as a hit on the Queen's body or any part of her attire cost 12 points (well Queens do get upset when shot at)! If the Fire Queen was the most feared, the Mystery Target was the most gruesome. It looked like a small shrouded corpse, which when hit in the 'right' places bled profusely. The realism of the bleeding and the colour of the 'blood' made some wonder whether a much loved pet had been trussed up inside (the fact that the target sometimes squeaked when hit added to the effect). The three top scorers of the day were: William Attard (72 points), Brian Golden (68 points) and Steve Humphrey (66 points). Competition was fierce for the lowest scorer of the day too, but Tip Attard (-81 points) just managed to beat Martin Jones (-75 points). The day ended with a dozen fire arrows being shot to light a bonfire, followed by snacks and refreshments.

The bleeding Mystery Target (no animals or children were harmed in making this target...)
